Dutch Apple Pie

Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients:
     1 pie crust
     1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
     5 1/2 cups peeled and thinly sliced cooking apples- like jonathan
     1/8 cup-plus-1/4cup sugar
     1/8 cup-plus 1/4cup packed brown sugar
     3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
     1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
     1/4 teaspoon salt
     1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions:
Brush bottom and sides of crust with egg yolk. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 375°F for 5 minutes.
In large bowl stir together 1/8 cup sugar, 1/8 cup brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg. Add apples. Gently toss until coated. Spoon into crust.
In small bowl combine 3/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Cut in margarine or butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
Bake on baking sheet at 375°F about 50 minutes or until topping is golden and filling is bubbly. Serve warm or at room temperature.
